The course is meant for people who have not studied Chinese previously. People who speak Mandarin Chinese as their native tongue cannot participate on the course.
Skill level A1 (on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR)
After completing the course, the students have gained an overview of Chinese and are able to
During the course, the students will do tasks that are related to everyday life: listening comprehension, grammar, pronunciation and conversation exercises. The languages of tuition are English and Chinese, with Finnish used as a support language when necessary.
Chuji Hanyu (Elementary Chinese), 2nd edition.
The book is not included in the course fee. The book costs approximately 34 euros and can be bought from the teacher in the first class.
60 lessons. Active participation in class and taking the final exam, which will be evaluated on scale 1-5. In order to pass the course, the student will need to attend at least 80 per cent of the lessons.
The exam will be held on the final lesson on December 17th, 2019.
The retake exam will be held in January 2020.

After completing the course, you can continue studying on Chinese Elementary II. The course will start in January.
