The course is suitable for those who have participated in Finnish for Beginners 1 or whose skill level is A1.2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). The target level of the course is A1.3.

Students continue studying Finnish on the level A1. The aim of the course is to strengthen the previously learnt skills, and to proceed to the next language level. After the course, students will be able to cope with simple everyday situations, and will be able to talk about themselves using simple expressions. Students will work independently, in pairs, and in small groups.
The course outline is based on the textbook Suomen mestari 1. The textbook will be studied from chapter 5 or 6 onwards. Learning the course topics requires active participation, doing homework and studying new vocabulary. The languages of tuition are Finnish and English.
Active and regular attendance and the exam. To pass the course, students need to attend at least 70 or 80 per cent of the lessons.
In order to get a complete certificate, students are required to take the exam. Scale: Pass/Fail.
Suomen mestari 1. Sonja Gehring & Sanni Heinzmann, Finn Lectura, from chapter 5 or 6 onwards.
The book is not included in the course fee. It is available at local bookstores and libraries, or can be ordered online.
Note! Please buy or borrow the book before the course begins!
Teacher’s own materials will be used as well.
After completing this course, you can continue studying on Finnish for Beginners 3. The course will start in January 2020.
