The course is suitable for those who have reached the skill level A1.2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR).
The course is also suitable for students who have taken the courses Learn Finnish 1–4 during summer 2019.
You have studied the textbook Suomen mestari 1 in full (from chapter 1 to chapter 9) or have equivalent skills.

On the course, we will practise communicating about personal life and describing our immediate surroundings. We will practise Finnish by speaking, writing, and reading.
The course outline is based on the textbook Suomen mestari 2. The first half of the book will be studied on this course. The course is intensive, and it is assumed that the students participate actively in class and do homework. Each student will prepare a small project in Finnish. An oral exam will be held at the end of the course. The target level is A2.1.
The language of instruction is English, but Finnish will be used when possible.
Active and regular attendance and the exam. To pass the course, students need to attend at least 70 or 80 per cent of the lessons.
In order to get a complete certificate, students are required to take the exam. Scale: Pass/Fail.
Suomen mestari 2, Sonja Gehring & Sanni Heinzmann, Finn Lectura, from chapter 1 onwars.
The book is not included in the course fee. The book will be needed already on the 1st lesson.
Teacher’s own materials will be used as well.
After completing this course, you can continue studying Finnish on Finnish for Beginners 4. The course will start in January 2020.
