Target group
An intensive course designed for B1+ (intermediate and above) level learners who want to improve their English pronunciation. The course will focus on the correct articulation of individual sounds, and the pronunciation of words and sentences. There will be lots of practice materials and many opportunities for learners to pronounce the correct sounds in controlled practice exercises, reading aloud, and in group discussions.

Objectives
By the end of the course learners will have learnt how to pronounce specific English sounds with more clarity, been exposed to different accents, understood how vowel sounds are produced, improved their communication skills, and gained confidence in pronouncing longer and more complex words and sentences.
Contents
- introduction, study and application of the phonemic chart
- pronunciation practice of individual and double vowel sounds
- practice in combining sounds and using word stress in multi-syllable words
- study and practice of intonation
- There is a particular focus on sounds Finns, and other nationalities, find difficult to produce, such as the English vowel sounds.
The course is taught in English.
Modes of study
Active and regular attendance. There will be no end of course test.
