Lukion pitkä oppimäärä tai vastaavat tiedot

The course aims to provide the student with core communication skills in English for academic purposes. These include understanding the conventions of English academic communication and applying critical thinking to reading, writing and speaking about research in English. The students will also become familiar with English as a lingua franca and the influence of context and culture on communication.

The course corresponds to the Foundations of Professional and Academic Communication in English (3 ECTS) in all Bachelor-level degrees of Tampere University.

Tavoitteet

The student can:

• - communicate, present and co-develop ideas and arguments in professional and academic contexts in a constructive manner
  - interact quite fluently and spontaneously in multilingual and multicultural situations
  - recognize the English language conventions and structure of different academic and professional text types
  - apply reading skills and strategies to identify and synthesize main points in texts in their field
  - produce clear and cohesive texts on topics related to their field of study

- Situations typical of multicultural workplaces and universities
- Topics related to working life and to the student’s field of study
- Audience and purpose
- English conventions governing text structure
- Style, readability and flow

The teaching language is English.

Oppimateriaali

Will be distributed by the teacher and/or through Moodle.

Suoritustapa

Continuous assessment and/or exam(s), completion of tasks (specific criteria given with task), attendance and active participation, self-assessment, other criteria given by the teacher.

Numeroarviointi asteikolla 1–5.

Vastaavuus

Opintojakso on Tampereen yliopiston Kielikeskuksen englannin kielen opetussuunnitelman mukainen (LANG.ENG.001).

Toisen asteen yhteistyö

Yhteistyösopimuksen piiriin kuuluvien Tampereen seudun toisen asteen oppilaitosten opiskelijat voivat hakea oman oppilaitoksensa kautta oikeutta osallistua Tampereen kesäyliopiston  järjestämiin avoimiin yliopisto-opintoihin ja korkeakoulujen opetussuunnitelmien mukaisiin kieliopintoihin maksutta. Yhteistyösopimuksen piiriin kuuluvat oppilaitokset näet täältä.

Opintojakson normaalihinta on 145 euroa.

Toisen asteen opiskelijoiden ilmoittautuminen

Jos  opiskelet jossain yhteistyösopimuksen piiriin kuuluvassa toisen asteen oppilaitoksessa, ilmoittaudu opintoihin Korota-tarjottimen kautta avautuvalla e-lomakkeella viimeistään 18.5.2023. Pääset Korota-tarjottimelle tästä.
