Target group

The course is suited for you if you have attended the course Finnish for Beginners 2 and/or reached skill level A1.3 (on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR). You have studied all chapters of Suomen mestari 1, or have equivalent skills.

The target skill level is A2.1.

Contents

We will learn how to describe our own lives and immediate surroundings. Themes include, for example, work, education, life in Finland, travelling, health and sickness, and nature and cabin life. On grammar, we will focus on, for example, partitive plural, past tense (imperfect), the object, and transitive and intransitive verbs. We will also practise speaking and familiarise ourselves with colloquial Finnish.

The textbook Suomen mestari 2 forms the core of the course. We will study chapters 1–3. The course is intensive and students are required to be active both in class and at home. At the end of the course, there will be an oral exam.

The languages of instruction are Finnish and English.

Modes of study

Active and regular attendance and an exam at the end of the course. The course is intensive: participants are required to be active and study independently.

To pass the course, participants are required to attend at least 80 per cent of the lessons.

Note! The  book is not included in the basic course fee (150 €). You can also  choose an option that includes the course fee and the book (205 €). If  you order the book from us, you will get it from the teacher on the 1st  lesson.

Please buy or borrow the book before the course begins! The  book will be needed from the 1st lesson onwards. Each participant will  need their own copy of the book.  A dictionary is also recommended.
