People who have not studied Finnish previously (starting level: 0).

Objectives
The target level is A1.1 (on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR).
Contents
On Learn Finnish 1, students will learn basics of Finnish. After the course, they will be able to talk about themselves using simple expressions. The course is intensive and students are required to be active. We will study basic grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and Finnish culture.
The core of the course is the textbook Suomen mestari 1, chapters 1–3. Active and regular participation, doing homework and studying new vocabulary are necessary each day. In addition, the group will hold interesting discussions, play language games, and learn about Finnish culture together. The language of instruction is English.
Modes of study
Active and regular attendance and an exam at the end of the course. The course is intensive: participants are required to be active and study independently.
To pass the course, participants are required to attend at least 70 or 80 per cent of the lessons.

Note! The book is not included in the basic course fee (150 €). You can also choose an option that includes the course fee and the book (205 €). If you order the book from us, you will get it from the teacher on the 1st lesson.
Please buy or borrow the book before the course begins! The book will be needed from the 1st lesson onwards. Each participant will need their own copy of the book. A dictionary is also recommended.
We will study chapters 1–3.
We use Moodle learning environment on the course.
