Target group

Learn Finnish 3 is suitable for you if you have participated on the course Learn Finnish 2 or if your skill level is A1.2 (on the European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR). You have studied chapters 1 to 6 from the textbook Suomen mestari 1, or have equivalent skills.

Objectives

Target skill level is A1.3.

Contents

The course is intensive and participants are required to be active. We will study grammar, speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary, and culture. The textbook Suomen mestari 1 forms the core of the course, but other materials will be used as well. On this course, we will study chapters 7–9.

Active participation on the various discussions and other tasks done on the lessons, doing homework, and studying new words are necessary on daily basis. We will hold interesting discussions, play language games, and learn more about Finnish culture together. At the end of the course, there will be a course exam. Languages of instruction are English and Finnish.

Modes of study

Active and regular attendance and an exam at the end of the course. The course is intensive: participants are required to be active and study independently.

To pass the course, participants are required to attend at least 70 or 80 per cent of the lessons.

Note! The book is not included in the course fee.

Please buy or borrow the book before the course begins! The book will be needed from the 1st lesson onwards. Each participant will need their own copy of the book.  A dictionary is also recommended.

This course will cover chapters 7–9.
