Place
The Summer University of Tampere (more detailed information will be sent to participants by email)
Description
How about an active city holiday in English in the centre of Tampere? The lush summer views of historical Tampere, with its parks, provide an excellent setting for practicing language skills. This course is designed for students at B1 and B2 levels who want to practice and speak English, not necessarily around the clock, but at least from morning to evening.
The goal is to strengthen practical language skills by expanding vocabulary, using structures more diversely, and reducing stress related to speaking a foreign language.
Objectives
After completing the course, students will be able to:
- Use grammatical structures more flexibly
- Express their opinions confidently
- Discuss a variety of topics
- Identify their strengths as foreign language speakers
- Set clearer goals for their studies
- Relax and take it easy
Topics and teaching methods
Topics: Culture, food, and expressing opinions.
The course involves practice in all language skills, with an emphasis on speaking and producing language. In grammar, we will focus on modal verbs, certain verb structures, and collocations. The course includes pair and group work, role-playing, various activating tasks, and guided relaxation sessions.
The teaching methods are based on holistic and collaborative models. In this course, we will learn together, appreciating each individual's contribution, and support and encourage everyone to use their imagination and creativity in a relaxed manner.
The week includes a museum/exhibition visit and, weather permitting, a game of mölkky and a picnic in the park, all in English, of course.
