Description
Face-to-face teaching, CLIL course*
When you study in English, you can learn new things and improve your English skills at the same time.
If you feel like you've lost motivation, should you change your attitude towards life, develop your willpower, or just go with your sisu? Where can you find the lost motivation? And what exactly is sisu?
In this workshop, we'll get to know the concepts of motivation and sisu and do exercises that will help you on the way to reach your goals, in English studies or in other fields of life.
Each of us is very motivated for some activities, and we can easily find time and enthusiasm for eg. a favourite hobby. Could this motivated state be utilized when we want to be able to promote important tasks that for some reason cause us uncertainty or nervousness?
Emilia Elisabet Lahti, a sisu researcher who specializes in positive psychology, says that sisu awakens from adversity, and it's more about finding a moment's energy than long-term endurance. However, there can be too much sisu, which in turn leads to increasing difficulties. Is it possible to regulate sisu?
The course includes short lecture sections and conversation in pairs and in groups and a fair amount of exercises.
The language of the course is English, and the exercises are also carried out in English, using wordlists for help if necessary. English structures and expressions are discussed in more detail if needed. The goal is to learn different ways that may help the participants moving forward more positively both in English studies and in life in general and learn to talk about more challenging topics in English.
